“I really have no natural look.” Kim Boekbinder’s approach to beauty is all-or-nothing. As a performer, composer/musician, and visual artist, Kim has designed her beauty regimen to support her art. “If I’m going out for coffee in the morning, I won’t think to look in the mirror first. I guess that’s pretty unusual for a performer. But then when I want to do myself up, I go for full effect!”
Now getting ready for her upcoming U.S. tour (which is pre-selling on Kickstarter.com), Kim has refined her look into a precise aesthetic. “It’s all about pink and gold now. I was experimenting with different hair colors, lots of reds, and when I found this fuchsia I noticed that both men and women were glaring at me – like they both hated me, and wanted me at the same time. As a performer I want to provoke people, so I knew I’d hit something!”
For having such a big look, Kim keeps a tiny kit: “I have this little bag from a flea market in Berlin where I lived. Everything has to fit in that, since I’m living out of a suitcase all the time.”
